We’re Going to Florida for the USIPA Conference!

Join us in Miami Beach, Florida, for the US Industrial Pellet Association (USIPA) 2024 Conference. For three days in November, we will engage with professionals and enthusiasts from all over the world to exchange ideas, learn from each other, and discuss the global pellet industry.

The USIPA is a not-for-profit trade association whose main objective is to promote sustainability and safety in the US wood energy industry. As well, USIPA supports renewable energy policy development throughout the world and advocates for the wood energy sector as a solution to climate change.

Wood Bioenergy Conference & Expo 2024

The biennial Wood Bioenergy Conference & Expo is coming up fast! This year’s event will be held on March 12-13 in Atlanta, Georgia, and will be immediately followed by the Panel & Engineered Lumber International Conference & Expo (PELICE), March 14-15. Both events are supported by Wood Bioenergy and Panel World magazines.

The Wood Bioenergy Conference & Expo caters to industry professionals from the industrial wood pellet, biomass power, biofuels and in-woods chipping sectors. This year more than 40 speakers will address topics such as the big picture of wood pellets; sourcing and sustainability practices; growth avenues for biomass; future projects and their impacts to fiber allocation; and the ongoing and future development of multiple co-products from wood and non-woody biomass sources.

Our Latest Project

Recently, Brunette Machinery designed, manufactured and installed a custom engineered biomass system consisting of a single 18-roll Disc Scalping Screen, a specialized infeed chute assembly, and two Brunette 4872B BioSizers®. The infeed chute, complete with a Diverter Gate, can convey material to both BioSizers operating simultaneously or one at a time.

Our innovative engineering and sales teams worked closely with our client to custom design an infeed chute with a diverter gate to handle the mill’s high volume, increase productivity and reduce maintenance costs. Our team devised this chute assembly to accommodate the customer’s budgetary restraints while fitting the new equipment into the original space.

During the engineering phase, we measured the current area to confirm conformance with the engineering drawings supplied by the customer. We considered the type and volume of the material to be processed and discussed the project goals. Our team collaborated throughout the process with the customer to develop the perfect solution.

The resulting design met all the customer’s production requirements. This custom-engineered system fits into the designated space. The customer’s conveyor system will feed the new Disc Scalping Screen that will furnish the screened material to the new infeed chute that feeds both BioSizers.

Georgia on My Mind — 2020 Wood BioEnergy / 2020 PELICE Conference & Expo

The 2020 Wood Bioenergy Conference & Expo will be held March 10-11 , 2020 at the Omni Hotel at CNN Center in Atlanta, Georgia. The 7th Panel & Engineered Lumber International Conference & Expo will be held
Thursday-Friday, March 12-13, 2020, at the Omni Hotel at CNN Center in Atlanta, Georgia, immediately following the 2020 Wood Bioenergy Conference.

The biennial event’s last show, held in 2018, was supported by 94 equipment and technology exhibitors and saw more than 400 industry representatives in attendance.

WPAC Conference & AGM — We Were There

We attended the Wood Pellet Association of Canada’s (WPAC) 2018 Conference and AGM this week along with wood pellet, biomass and bioenergy professionals from across North America, Europe and Asia. It was a great opportunity to learn about the emerging bioenergy industry and the impact it is having around the globe.

The speakers were from various sectors of the industry including Christian Hansen, the Regional Director and Senior Trade Commissioner of Global Affairs Canada, Pacific regional office in Vancouver, Fiona Murray, Vice President of industrial products at CN Rail, as well as other leaders in the wood pellet and biomass/bioenergy industries in Canada and the US.

The conference focussed on international developments in the domestic and global wood pellet industry such as new research and development in the science of biomass, the emerging and fast-growing pellet market in Asia and the most innovative pellet and bioenergy technologies that are being produced right now.

It was an interesting and well-organized event, with great speakers, a beautiful venue and ample opportunities for learning and networking with professionals from all areas of this exciting market.

We even had the good fortune to sample, John Swaan’s world famous pellet-smoked ribs at Tuesday evening’s barbeque and networking event. John is the pellet expert at Future Metrics and he is considered to be the “grandfather of wood pellets”.
